In July 2018, Stefan Evano was named Varsity Women’s Head Coach.  Stefan served the previous year as Head Novice Coach, and two years prior as Norcal’s Varsity Women’s Assistant Coach, which included a bronze medal finish in the 3V8 in 2016.

Stefan’s coaching career began after graduation from Oregon State University with two years as the head coach of the Corvallis Rowing Club and assistant coach at Oregon State. While coaching OSU’s Varsity 4, they won consecutive PAC-12 medals and placed 5th in the nation at the 2013 IRA National Championship. Stefan moved to Indiana University and helped IU to their first ever NCAA Championship trips in 2014 and 2015 as part of the 2014 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Collegiate Staff of the Year.

Stefan began his rowing career in Eugene, Oregon as part of the Oregon Association of Rowers in 2003. He continued on to four years as a coxswain at Oregon State University, reaching the grand finals of the IRA national championship in the Freshman 4 and Open 4 and spending the better part of 3 years as the Varsity 8 coxswain. Stefan graduated with a degree in New Media Communications and a minor in History. He enjoys spending his free time in the mountains, cooking, and trying to convince his wife that there’s room to store another bike in their apartment.
