Jenifer Aguirre
Men's U17/U19
Jenifer (Jen) Aguirre has over 30 years of experience as a competitive rower and certified personal trainer, as well as over 20 years of experience as a rowing coach for both high school athletes and adults. She began rowing when she walked on to the crew team at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) as a freshman and never looked back! She has competed regionally, nationally and internationally for the past 30 years as a Masters Rower and has been involved with Norcal Crew off and on since 2006.
Jenifer’s philosophy for both rowing, training and mobility encompasses mind, body and soul. She believes you must understand where your fitness, anatomy and skill level is, how it got there and where you want it to go. Her passion and inspiration come from, “helping others to achieve goals they did not think were possible, whether it be the result of strength and conditioning on land, on the water, or in life.” Both her coaching and personal training style revolve around form and function, and exercise variety. The junior athletes all know that as they rise to the challenge, Jenifer will raise the bar higher toward that next goal.
Form, function, balance, strength, confidence and teamwork all apply to every aspect of life on and off the water. Jenifer’s main goal is to help each rower not only discover their own strengths, weaknesses, passions and potential but explore this unique sport in the process. Helping young athletes develop these fundamentals as as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for Norcal Crew is truly a pleasure and passion.
Away from the boathouse, Jen has also taken time to become an EMT, Search and Rescue for the Santa Clara Sheriff’s Dept., Professional Dog Walker, and also enjoys weekend warrior Tough Mudders and Spartan races each year.
