Michael Luecker
Men's U17/U19 Assistant Coach
Michael Luecker is a dedicated rowing coach and former competitive rower with deep roots in California’s rowing community. He began his rowing career with the Oakland Strokes, one of the most competitive youth programs in the country, where he developed the technical skill, discipline, and competitive mindset that have become hallmarks of his coaching style.
Michael went on to coach at the California Maritime Academy, working with collegiate athletes to refine their technique, build racing strategy, and prepare for high-level competition. His approach combines a strong technical foundation with a focus on endurance, boat speed, and team cohesion.
Having experienced the sport from both the athlete’s and coach’s perspectives, Michael understands the physical and mental demands of rowing and is committed to helping his athletes reach their full potential. Whether training a novice crew or a varsity boat, he emphasizes work ethic, attention to detail, and mutual respect—qualities that contribute to both competitive success and personal growth.
